The Polka Times, “America’s Polka Newspaper”.
The Polka Times was founded in July of 2003.
It is owned and published by Paul Mirkovich.
The newspaper was initially created to promote the Slovenian style of polka music, which is featured primarily throughout western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
The subscribers of the Polka Times lived in the region’s polka hot spots, such as Cleveland, Barberton, Akron, Youngstown, Pittsburgh and the many other small towns throughout the region.
In January of 2008, the Polka Times purchased the Polka News, published out of Michigan, from Carl and Mary Anne Rohwetter.
After combining the subscription mailing list of the Polka News and the Polka Times, the Polka Times has become the largest circulation polka newspaper in the country.
Each month the Polka Times is read by thousands of readers in over 40 states across the country.
The Polka Times promotes all styles of polka music played across the country.
You’ll enjoy reading human-interest articles about polka fans, musicians, DJ’s, IJ’s and other people working hard to promote polka music.
You’ll also read about dances and festivals held throughout the year.
Also, a popular new section of the Polka Times was introduced in the fall of 2009.
TRADITION, which is devoted to Old Europe Heritage, is printed in each issue of the Polka Times.
The articles in this section pertain to the music, food, history, travel and more that are celebrated by the many ethnic groups in our country.
Some of the recent articles printed in the TRADITION section of the Polka Times included San Jose, California clubs finding it hard to pass passion for participation to the next generation, the Csardas Dance Company of Cleveland, Ohio celebrating it’s 15th anniversary, American musicians introducing polka to the Japanese, 30 years of song and dance for the Junior Tammies of the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Bavarian Grill in Plano, Texas ranked as the best German restaurant in Texas and Texas schools saying auf Wiedersehen to German programs.
And, ALL the photos in the Polka Times appear in beautiful color.
You’ll have hours of enjoyment reading the Polka Times each month.
